How I’m marketing my business in 2024

If you read my last post, you’ll know the theme for 2024 is less is more. We’re doing fewer things but making them better. And this sentiment couldn’t be more true for my 2024 marketing efforts.

Confession: I’m a magpie and a Gemini, which I think means I’m easily distracted and want to try all the things – astrology girlies, can you confirm or deny?

Since childhood I’ve been fascinated by the new – pretty new things, learning new things, trying new things. 

New, new, new, new, new.

While this trait has enriched my life and inspired my business in multiple ways, it’s also been to my detriment. I’m guilty of hopping social platforms, shifting focus, and abandoning strategies more than I’d like to admit. And I’m not exaggerating when I say my brand and business would have grown a lot quicker if I was able to keep my eyes on the prize and maintain focus.

Sure, I amused 1k+ LinkedIn followers in a few months and nurtured a gorgeous community on Instagram

But what if I focused on one of these platforms and gave it my all? What would the numbers look like?

This is why, in 2024, I’m adopting the “less is more” mentality and going all-in on a few things to benefit my business (and my sanity).

My 2024 marketing focus

In 2024, I have 3 main focuses (ideally this would be 2, but I am who I am): 

This brand and marketing blog

My weekly newsletter, brand love notes

Growing my Instagram community

LinkedIn, Pinterest, and TikTok are all secondary focuses. And honestly, quite likely to be neglected as I focus on serving as many creatives and wedding pros as possible through the Cupid copywriting agency.

Brand and marketing blog

Blogging is my one true love and the reason I ended up in this dream career (thanks WordPress, love you). It’s also something I’ve neglected for years despite preaching its powers. 

If I could amass a loyal following on one platform, it wouldn’t be Pinterest, Instagram, or TikTok. It would be this blog. 

That’s why in 2024, I have some hefty blogging goals.

Broken down into best, better, and bestest, they look like this:

Best: Blog once a week

Better: Blog 3 times a week

Bestest: Blog 5 days a week (did I really just say that? Oh wow).

And as the overachiever I am, I’m of course opting for bestest. Annnnd I’ve just told you it, so I better get to blogging. 

I’ll share these educational and personal (oh yep) blogs on Instagram, Pinterest, and in my newsletter.

My weekly newsletter

Marketing in 2023 was rocky for my weekly newsletter and I. We started a passionate love affair before quickly becoming distant friends who forget to message as much as we like.

But, I adore writing my newsletter, despite the doubts I have about sharing my personal life and ongoings inside it (I’m not a natural-born influencer). However, this intimacy is what makes them so great and brings us closer – something I’m keen to bring into 2024.

So, 2024 marketing looks like weekly newsletters filled with stories, tips, and recommendations.

Growing my Instagram community

Despite Instagram and I having an on-again-off-again relationship, it’s still my favourite social media platform. And, over the 2+ years I’ve been running the account, we’ve developed a beautiful community over there.

This year, I want to keep pouring into this community with high-value posts and an insight into who Cupid is (something I’m guilty of not sharing enough in the past).

Mostly, I don’t want to feel immense pressure on the platform while being confident the content I’m posting matters to you and moves us towards our goals.

Is it possible? I’ll let you know.

These Instagram posts will be reposted on the Cupid LinkedIn page and shared by my personal account. LinkedIn is a great resource, and somewhere I wish I had more time for. But in the spirit of less is more, it’ll be taking a backseat in 2024 with minimal original content.

2024 marketing secondary focuses

I’m a strong believer in content repurposing and that being on multiple platforms is a good thing. 2024 marketing requires cross-platform content and presence. But, I’m also aware that spreading myself too thin results in mediocre content and overwhelm. 

My 2024 marketing goal is to be consistent on my primary focuses and indulge in my secondary platforms when I can, or if I choose to outsource them. That’s to say, there’s no pressure if I don’t pin for 2 weeks. I don’t need to feel down about it. 

Mindset is something I’ve neglected in the past but know is essential for the success of my 2024 marketing goals.

Instead of overloading my goals and feeling frustrated when I don’t achieve what I set out to, I’m limiting my focus and providing myself with the peace of mind I need to propel my brand forward.

For once, my yearly marketing ambitions don’t feel overwhelming or exhausting. My 2024 marketing goals feel aligned with my brand, vision, and personal and professional goals. I’m excited about how and where we’re sharing our message, and know it’s going to have the impact we desire and you need.
