Hi, Jasmine — website copywriter & marketer for service providers + coaches looking to book more dream clients via their website.

Should you display pricing on your wedding business website?

You’ve created a beautiful, strategic wedding website that feels true to you and works for your business. The only thing left to do is press publish and watch your community explore your new online home.

But, before launching it to the world, a wave of fear overcomes you.

“Should I include my wedding service prices on my website?

“Maybe just a starting at price”

Or maybe no price at all, I’ll just wait for enquiries

It’s a difficult question, and one loaded with possible doubt, insecurity, and uncertainty. But, only you can decide if you want to share your pricing on your wedding business website.

Website copywriters for wedding businesses and other wedding industry professionals can help you decide — usually we have a preference we’re happy to share with you. However, the final decision is up to you.

(You’ll see mine below!)

In this blog post, I’m sharing the pros and cons of sharing your pricing on your wedding business website, so you can make an informed decision and decide what is right for your brand.

Should you display pricing on your wedding business website?

Common misconception: “I’ll be able to upsell if I don’t share my pricing”

While you might think not sharing your pricing means you’ll be able to negotiate with clients one-on-one. However, the reality is that you’re unlikely to get to the point of having a call without having pricing on your website, here’s why:

No pricing equals no communication

There are hundreds of wedding service providers offering the same experiences as you.

When your dream client is researching their options, they want to know all the information before they reach out. Modern buyers like to feel empowered to make their own decisions. And, because we live in a fast-paced society, people aren’t willing to wait around or search for this information themselves.

If you’re not informing your clients on everything they need to decide, they’ll find someone who is.

Pricing negotiations waste time

The time spent going back and forth on pricing with one potential client could be spent serving and communicating with viable leads. If you want to build a scalable, well-established wedding business, you don’t have the time to talk through and compromise on your prices with every potential client

“My services are bespoke!”

I understand that your services are bespoke. Every client has different needs, and you’re dedicated to serving them in the best way possible. Plus, your bespoke services elevate your brand and convey value. I love this for you and your clients.

However, bespoke pricing doesn’t negate the fact that people still like to have all the information they need before reaching out to a potential business.

If you’re offering bespoke services, I recommend adding a starting price. Starting prices give clients an indication of what they can expect to pay, with room for discussion and upselling.

Common misconception: You can increase their budget

You can price negotiate to your heart’s content. But if someone doesn’t have the budget for your services, talking to them won’t change that.

Displaying pricing on your website tells people if you’re within their budget and means you don’t have to (awkwardly) tell them when you’re not.

Pros of displaying pricing on your wedding website

We’ve debunked the common myths surrounding sharing pricing on your wedding website. Now let’s discuss the some of the pros to showcasing your service costs:

Establishes your brand

Displaying your pricing is the easiest and most effective way to establish your brand in a certain market. High-ticket pricing confidently stated on your wedding website will situate you as the luxury service provider you are.

Builds trust

People value honesty and transparency, and that’s reflected in your website. Although you’re not actively defying people by not disclosing your pricing, having visible pricing makes you appear more open and credible.

Increases awareness

The most information you provide to potential leads, the more memorable you are. You might not think it but people will remember you according to your price bracket.

“I loved X and she was a little more expensive than Y but definitely worth it!”

Build relationships with viable leads

Instead of wasting time chasing unaligned leads and building relationships with people who can’t afford your services, you can focus your time and energy on talking to and getting to know potential dream clients. This will increase your ROI (return on investment) and long-term referral network.

Sharing your pricing is daunting, but it’s the best way to serve your clients and establish your brand online. The pros far outweigh the cons, and I promise potential leads will be thankful to see your prices clear and confident on the pages of your website!
